I created this service to bring a little peace and practical support to families during one of the most tender (and exhausting) times of their lives.
I’m a Registered Practical Nurse with over 10 years of experience in postpartum and newborn care, most of it spent working night shifts at Montfort Hospital. I’ve cared for tiny preemies, tired new parents, C-section recoveries, and everything in between—but nothing compares to being there for families in their own homes.
As a single mother, I’ve felt that deep, middle-of-the-night exhaustion. I know how hard it can be to ask for help, especially when you feel like you should be able to do it all.
Cradlelight Care was born from that understanding—from my love of showing up gently, consistently, and without judgment when it matters most.
I believe every family deserves continuity of care—the comfort of seeing the same calm, capable face that takes the time to understand your baby, your rhythms, and what helps you breathe a little easier.
Whether it’s feeding, diapering, rocking baby back to sleep, or simply being a reassuring presence while you rest, I’m here to help carry the night.
This is care that helps you exhale.
At Cradlelight Care, my mission is to provide calm, personalized,
in-home overnight support for parents and their newborns during the tender weeks of the fourth trimester.
This is a time of deep change, where healing, bonding, and learning all happen at once. I offer consistent, compassionate, nurse-led care that meets each family where they are, helping parents rest, recover, and grow in confidence.
With a steady presence through the night, I bring peace, reassurance, and the kind of support that helps families feel safe, seen, and supported—one quiet night at a time.
Nursery reset, bottles, and baby laundry when applicable. Small details handled to support rest and recovery.
Calm, knowledgeable support with breastfeeding, positioning, comfort strategies, and recovery, especially following cesarean or complicated births.
Feeding, diapering, soothing, and safe sleep provided by an experienced postpartum nurse so you can rest fully through the night.

Overnight care is offered through in-home visits from 10pm–6am, with daytime relief available when additional rest and reassurance are needed.
All care is provided by an experienced postpartum nurse, so you can feel supported, reassured, and at ease.
Ongoing overnight care designed to provide consistency and reassurance in the
early days.
Comprehensive overnight support to help you establish rest, confidence, and

A single overnight of calm, professional support when you need rest the most.
“I’ve worked alongside Martine for over 10 years and can confidently say she is an exceptional maternity nurse and caregiver. With extensive experience in postpartum care, including cesarian deliveries, she deeply understands the needs of new moms after both vaginal and
C-section births."

Yes, absolutely. As a nurse trained by a lactation consultant at Montfort Hospital, I have strong experience in breastfeeding. I can guide you with positioning, latching, and offer personalized advice based on your needs.
If you prefer to provide expressed breast milk or formula, I can manage feedings independently while you sleep. If you don't have expressed milk, I can wake you for breastfeeding and then take over baby's care afterward, allowing you to fall back asleep more easily.
My knowledge in lactation allows me to support you in your feeding choices while respecting your preferences and your rhythm.
You can book care as soon as you feel ready. Many families reach out during pregnancy to secure their spot. I provide support for newborns during the first 4-6 weeks after birth, with a focus on those delicate early days and nights.
Light tidying is included when time allows—this might be washing bottles, loading the dishwasher, or folding baby laundry. My priority is your baby's care and your rest, but I'm happy to help ease your load where possible.
I currently serve families across Ottawa and parts of Gatineau. If you're unsure whether I cover your neighborhood, feel free to reach out for confirmation.
At this time, home-based postpartum care is not covered by private insurance. However, because care is provided by a licensed nurse, you may be able to claim these services as a medical expense on your tax return. Please consult your tax advisor for details.
I am generally comfortable around animals, but for everyone's safety and comfort, I ask to be informed in advance—especially if there are cats in the home, as I am not comfortable around them. This helps me plan for a calm and secure night for your baby and myself. Thank you for your understanding.
For any questions about services, availability, or your specific situation, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I’ll take the time to respond with care and clarity.
